Let the Rain Come – Chapter 3. White Fangs and Silver Bullets

Seeming almost compelled by the scent, Rahne managed to scramble out of her little home and make her way out into the streets again. Her black pants were stained from the mud she had managed to splash into, but seeing as this chance to find another one of her kind drove her to not even care. Why did she feel so obligated to find this other wolf? What was driving her? Was it something inside… something that was breed into her species that longed to be with another, or was it just something to fill an empty void in her life? She didn’t know, and right now, she didn’t care… she just needed to find whoever this other wolf was.
Her boots thudded against the wet pavement as she hurried on, her breath short and her eyes dilated. She was being driven by some force, almost as if something had taken her body over… She couldn’t explain it. Finally though, she skidded to a halt in front of an alley way, her green eyes wide and fixed on its entrance as she inhaled the air deeply. ‘This is it…’ She thought to herself. But silence only filled the air.
A light sigh heaved from her lungs as her eyes lowered a little, shaking her head. “Maybe it was just my imagination… I mean, how many of us can there actually be?” She said, disappointment held in her voice. She was about to turn away, before a scuffing sound caught her attention. She turned back around to see a bunch of humans walking past, which caused her to wrinkle up her nose some in disgust… Though her reaction quickly turned to shock as her eyes came to settle on the source of the scent she had followed.
Adorned in a tight, black leather outfit, a male with practically white hair passed by. She wasn’t able to see his eyes, but instantly… She knew what he was. She was able to see his true form, grey, powerful, but scarred. A large X shaped scar covered the length of his chest, giving him even more of an intimidating look. But… Why was he walking in toe with these humans?
However, Rahne was to slow to act, seeing as that she wasn’t dreaming and that there was another wolf here, caused her to freeze in her spot and act somewhat dumbfounded by the entire thing. Her green eyes were wide, and she felt as if she couldn’t move. Her mind was racing so fast that it felt almost empty… As if it just simply couldn’t comprehend all of this at once.
Though she was snapped out of her little trance like state by the sound of a dog barking it’s head off. It was in the alley right beside hers… And it didn’t sound to happy. She hurried forward and peeked her head around the corner jus t in time to see an older man emerge from the alley, a large riffle in his hand. Why was a human carrying around such a weapon in a town like this? Sure there was the chance of getting robbed… but a riffle? The man wasn’t much of a sight either, he stunk of booze and clearly hadn’t bathed in sometime. His sheer smell alone almost made her turn tail in an attempt to get away from it.  However, she watched as he knelt down and inspected the ground, and it was then that she looked down at her feet. ‘Oh no…’
Paw prints… That other wolf had left them behind. Her eyes lifted back up to the man as he stood up and groaned, going back and retrieving his dog. Black as night with blue eyes… Spiked collar and held on a leather leash. A pet. Disgusting. She despised humans, and could never imagine actually partaking in being a human pet. A leash could never hold her, and if her ‘master’ ever tried to correct her for something he thought wrong… Well… let’s just say he wouldn’t be around to correct her again.
Rahne’s eyes lifted as she looked down the road, looking for the other wolf. However, he was nowhere to be found. This dog and it’s master must have frightened him off… Blast. But thankfully it was a small city… Hopefully she’d run into him again.
Sighing a little she turned and went to walk back down the alley she had come up. However, a low, familiar noise caught her attention and that same horrible smell filled the air. Old booze mixed with human and dog. She turned to meet the blue eyes of the hunters dog, it’s hackles raised and it’s teeth exposed in a snarl. Rahne was just about to take a step forward and take the dog’s treat to the next level just as she heard the cocking of a gun. Her eyes lifted to the older man, the gun pointed straight at her face. Her nose wrinkled up and she scowled in his direction, pure hatred across her features.
“Damned wolves! Why do you still walk the earth!?” He cursed,  as his dog approached towards her closer. Rahne took a couple steps back before trying to ‘defend’ herself.
“I don’t know what you’re talking about pops!” She hissed, her eyes remaining narrowed on them. Though evil glares wasn’t going to get her out of this one anytime soon.
It was then that the black dog made it’s move. It howled and leapt forward, it’s maw spread wide in an attempt to catch any bit of the girl it could. Rahne charged forward as she did so, something that the master and pet weren’t  truly expecting.
“Watch it Blue!” The human called out… So this dog’s name was blue eh?
Rahne snarled, thrusting an arm up in an attempt to strike the dog’s windpipe as it flew towards her… However her timing was off and the dog clamped it’s jaws around her forearm. Yelping in pain she quickly spun around, wrapping a hand on the dog’s ears and pulling at them furiously… all the while retaining her human form for the sake of innocence.
“Messenger of death!” the human hissed, doing his best to hold out and get a good shot. “Hold ‘er Blue!” He called. That was the last straw… If he was going to shoot at her, and sick his dog on her, then she’d fight back. In an instant a crimson wolf was in her stead, though the human and dog seemed to already know what she was and weren’t surprised. This stunned her a little, but there were more important matters on hand, like getting this blasted mutt off of her!
Rahne was going to try and sink her teeth into the dog’s scruff, however, the spiked metal collar prevented such actions… so she had to go for the next best thing. Clamping her fangs beneath the dog’s forearm Rahne snarled furiously and shook her head. This Blue released her arm before then whirling around and planting it’s fangs into her shoulder area. Wincing Rahne struggled, though managed to bring her bulk over the black canine. This was just the shot the old man was waiting for…
BANG
The sound echoed through the alley way and was so loud that it made Rahne’s ears ring. It was then though that a burning feeling struck her shoulder. She looked down to see her pelt stained a darker shade of red, and her maw curled upwards as she glared at the man. It was only a graze, but it still hurt like hell. This wasn’t looking good… and was probably going to end with her getting shot in the head. As much as it pained her to do so, Rahne released the dog, throwing it into a pile of garbage cans in an attempt to slow it down before then bolting.
However, she heard paws not to far on her tail… Blast they were a persistent batch! Her eyes frantically searched for a way to escape, and she soon found some way. Her eyes beheld a fire escape and she quickly leapt into it, before then leaping into an open window. She practically crash landed, but didn’t move once she hit the ground. She could hear the two pass, all the while the man calling out and encouraging the dog to find her. But… hopefully she had lost them. Sure she was bleeding pretty bad, but with her thick pelt that had soaked up most of the blood, not leaving much of it behind.
She rolled onto her side and winced, her ears pinning back as pain swept over her body… Sure she had a fiery temper and was a tough little thing, but pain was still pain. Bringing her muzzle down she began to lick her wounds, how humiliating… But it needed to be done if she didn’t want to bleed to death.
“I swear if I ever run into them again…I’ll rip that dog’s head off.” She growled, her eyes glinting with anger. What possessed them to suddenly attack and shoot her?! Damned humans, that’s why she hated them so. They were so irrational, so confusing…

She lifted her muzzle a little and inhaled the air around her… It was dry, but still stunk of humans. Somebody was still living here… She couldn’t risk being found by yet another human. Pushing herself to her four,  her form reverted back to that of a human, her shoulder gashed and bite marks adorning her one arm, as well as a whole other set on her  shoulder blade. What a mess she appeared, blood dripping down her arm as she trembled lightly from the pain. It would soon pass… She just needed to make sure to pay close attention to her wounds. Shuffling from the home, she made sure to take a back exit, though not before ‘commandeering’ a jacket out of the persons closet. It was the only way she could walk back to her home without being noticed with all the injuries to her body.  However, as she walked down the alley from the home, she passed a tall, blonde haired man. It surprised her that almost instantly he sneezed and waved his hat in front of his face. He appeared like a business type man, the suit and formal wear seeming a bit much for a man to be a normal Joe. But what did she care… Humans were none of her concern.
He gave her a passing glance, probably recognizing the jacket she had on, and faltered for a moment, as if he was going to ask her something. That was it, her time was up and she had snapped. She took off yet again but this time made sure that she wasn’t going to be found. Taking a dead ended alley, she ricocheted off the walls before then bringing herself onto the rooftop. She gripped her arm tightly and winced again, nearly dropping to a knee from the pain the gunshot had caused. Pushing herself to stand, she hurried out of sight just as the man entered the alley… He seemed curious, but now obviously confused. But of course he was just following a girl whom disappeared into thin air… Oh well. She looked skyward, the artificial sky overhead giving this town such a cold feeling. She tremble a little before then beginning to make her way back in the direction of her home… wondering if she’d ever come across that wolf again.
Ahahahah! Didn't think I was going to submit another chapter right away huh? Well lets say that I had this in my head and I was afraid that I was going to forget it... so I hurried up and wrote it up real quick. Let's also say that it's VERY late but I can't sleep so... yeah. xP

I'm not going to be to 'active' on dA for a couple days, so I'll give you guys something a little extra.

DIDN'T THINK I WAS GONA GIVE YOU FOUR WOLF'S RAIN CHARACTERS IN THERE DIDJA?! WELL HAH
:P

I have to say though that I do love Hub and Quent, and of course my fav Tsume. But Blue to me is just so darn annoying... Rhane'll be sure to beat her up a good bit later on in the series xP but yeah, enjoy!

This is really good I can't wait for the next chapter ^.^ I agree, I never liked Blue but, I don't like Hub and Quent is okay and the way she died was a bit random. I do really like this story...something to get addicted too XD
